The history of the "Völser Kuchlkastl"
“Völser Kuchlkastl” shows how a simple idea can become a tradition. For 40 years now, this successful gastronomic initiative has been enriching autumn in the Seiser Alm holiday region.
In 1978, a young innkeeper from Völs am Schlern had the brilliant idea to create “Gastronomic October” together with colleagues. The “Völser Kuchlkastl” was born. Until then, hotels and guesthouses in Völs closed their doors in mid-September and the holiday resort became deserted just as summer was preparing to take its leave, even though there were still splendid sunny days with blue skies.
