SASMUJEL - 150 years first ascent of the Sassolungo

7/27/2019 1 pm Between the vallone and the Rifugio Vicenza
When the Austrian alpinist Paul Grohmann, accompanied by two mountain guides, first climbed the Langkofel on 13 August 1869, this was a sensation. 150 years later, a contemporary art, music and performance project commemorates this milestone in Alpine history. In the midst of the breathtaking rock arena between the Langkofelscharte and the Langkofelhütte at 2,500 metres above sea level, musicians* inside, mountaineers* inside and rope performers* inside meet. The artist Hubert Kostner gets to the bottom of the concept of "being tied up"; and ties up a gigantic rock with climbing ropes. The composer Eduard Demetz traces the acoustic vastness of the mountain landscape and locates the gigantic rock massif with 20 wind instruments. The choreographer Anastasia Kostner will set energy and movement into the acoustic-visual landscape between local mountaineers* and performers*.
