comes round, it`s back to the valley for the 250 cattle, horses, goats and sheep that spent the summer months grazing on the Seiser Alm
. The „Almabtrieb“ transhumance procession is traditionally celebrated on „Rosary Saturday“, the day before the harvest feast. This year the event will tanke place on the 5th of October. The cattle, covered in wreaths and chiming cowbells, are herded along the roads from the Seiser Alm all the way down to the valley. Accompanied by bells and wreaths the animals fill the area of Compaccio at 10am. The transhumance is accompanied by a feast and a famers' and artisans' market are part of this special event, as well.
The colourful drove arrives at Castelrotto at approx. 1 p.m. There the event is celebrated with typical dishes, drinks and musical entertainment with the local band of Castelrotto. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
