Tobogganing on the Seiser Alm

Tobogganing on the Seiser Alm as well as in the villages is a great highlight

Racing down the toboggan slopes, toboggan parties with friends by the light of the full moon as you feast your eyes on the view over the nearby Dolomite peaks: Tobogganing on the Seiser Alm as well as in the villages is a great highlight. Beginners and tobogganing pros certainly get their money’s worth.

You can get to the set-off point of the toboggan slopes easily on foot, or more easily still by cable car: with the Florian chairlift and with the Telemix Puflatsch. There is also a charming path through the beautiful winter landscape with its fabulous tranquillity. Toboggans can be rented out straight from the mountain cabins, the mountain stations and ski rentals.

For your safety, please note the following: Helmets are compulsory for all minors, use at your own risk and tobogganing is prohibited on the ski slopes for safety reasons.

For a safe tobogganing experience 10 Golden rules:

  1. Where to climb and where to descend: Use the walkway to climb and the toboggan run to descend. It‘s not allowed to walk up the toboggan run, nor to descend on the slopes.
  2. Respecting others: Always watch out for other tobogganists and avoid jeopardising or harming them.
  3. Speed control: Always make sure to adjust your speed to your skills, and to the weather and snow conditions. Keep a safe distance of at least 8 meters from any other tobogganists.
  4. Crossings: Any intersections between toboggan run, slopes and walkways are marked with relevant sign boards. To avoid clashes with skiers or hikers we all need to be very cautious.
  5. Overtaking: Only overtake where the view is clear and unrestricted and do it with moderate speed.
  6. Stopping: Apart from emergencies, stopping at narrow passages or at spots with a restricted view is not allowed. In case of falls, try to clear the trail as fast as possible.
  7. Position: Never toboggan head-first.
  8. Outfit: Tobogganing requires adequate shoes. If you warm up ahead of the run you can prevent injuries.
  9. Sign notifications: Pay attention to any warning and information signs.
  10. Assistance: In case of an accident, you are required to help any person who needs assistance. If you cannot or may not actively help, then you attempt to telephone local emergency services 112 or to call out for someone to come help the injured party.
