#seiseralminsights: @seis_siusi As you walk through the woody valley between Seis and St. Konstantin, all of a sudden, the church of the St. Vigil chapel towers up before you. This unusual location for a House of God, ⛪ first documented in the year 1260 is not only a matter of intrigue, but also the origin of countless myths and legends. The chapel was built on an old pagan cult site, during the course of Christianisation. 👍 One particular curiosity: at the beginning of spring, on the 21st of March, the shadow of the Schlern falls directly on the chapel for the last time until the 23rd of September, when it heralds the return of autumn. ☀

Seiser Alm Insights: Tiers am Rosengarten: For us, going on hikes and climbing the mountains is a matter of course. 🥾In the past, people only went to the mountains for practical reasons, such as to hunt chamois or because they had to cross a mountain pass. In April 1336, Francesco Petrarca climbed the summit of Mont Ventoux "for pure pleasure". This was the birth of alpinism. ⛰However, some time passed before the first mountaineers discovered the Dolomites for themselves. It was not until the end of the 19th century that the first peaks were climbed. In 1864, the Englishmen Josiah Gilbert and George C. Chruchill published the book "The Dolomite Mountains", which contributed significantly to the fame of the Dolomites. 📚In the book they mention the view from Bolzano of a mountain massif that glows in the evening sun, the Rosengarten massif! ⛰
