🌿 Seiser Alm Nature: Ever seen map lichen? It looks like a map, so it's called 'map lichen' or Rhizocarpon geographicum in the plant world. It grows super slowly on rocks, especially in cold places with silicate rock. It's like a time traveler – its age tells when ice melted. Also, it's like a canary in the coal mine for air quality, super sensitive to changes. Fun fact: it's been to space! 😀☘️

"🌲🏔️ The mountain pine, a local native, is a remarkable presence in our region's landscape. Easy to spot on steep, dry slopes, ledges, and rocky areas. These tough trees can reach 3 meters in height and have long, dark paired needles. What's cool? They grow all twisted, making them easy to recognize.

The Mountain Pine is a true survivor, thriving in extreme conditions. Cold temperatures? Strong winds? Poor soil or avalanches? No problem.

People use the wood for all kinds of things here in South Tyrol, but what really makes these pines famous is the essential oil we extract from their needles and branches! "
