The Farmers’ Markets

From June to October, regular farmers’ markets are held in the villages of Dolomites Region Seiser Alm. Local farmers bring along what they grow and produce on their farms: fresh vegetables, cheese, bread, herbs and other regional specialities. The markets act as the meeting point for the village, and provide an insight into the variety of agricultural products in the region.

Winery tours

In spring and autumn, you can visit and tour various wineries in Völs am Schlern and take part in a wine tasting. A small fee applies, covering the tour as well as the transfer to and from the winery. The meeting point is the Tourist Office in Völs am Schlern; from there, you head together to the respective winery. If you enjoy regional cuisine, you will love these speciality weeks. In the participating establishments, you will find many dishes in June made entirely from local products. Sustainability and close cooperation between local producers and restaurateurs are central – and of course, pure enjoyment.

Every two years in July, the farmers’ breakfast takes place in Völs am Schlern. Local farmers and winegrowers serve a wide range of homemade delicacies. You can help yourself at the buffet and enjoy breakfast in the open air, together with many others – doesn’t that sound like a wonderful start to your summer day? The dumplings festival

They are round, they are delicious, and they are steeped in tradition – the South Tyrolean dumplings. They also take centre stage at the Dumplings Festival, held in July and August on the village square in Kastelruth. When tasting them, their many variations will keep surprising you with a delighted “Mmmmh!” Dumplings simply fascinate – in flavour and appearance.
