Less is more. This also applies to backpacks. Only pack what you need, but in the right way.

Regional provisions and seasonal fruit and vegetables from the area are ideal for refreshments on the road. Using these foods promotes local cycles, the short transport routes save CO2 and thus protect the environment.  A reusable hiking box serves not only as a container for the “Marende” (snacks), but also for the waste that accumulates. Since what I take up the mountain, I bring back down to the valley and dispose of properly there. Having sufficient liquid during a hike is important as well. Every newly bought disposable bottle means more waste. The water bottles can be refilled with fresh drinking water at designated water fountains.  For human needs, pack toilet paper as emergency paper. Paper handkerchiefs take 5 years, toilet paper only 2-4 weeks to decompose in nature.

Please remember:

  • If you bring anything up the mountains, take it back home after your visit and dispose of it appropriately
  • Remain on the marked hiking and biking tracks. Avoid waste and do not leave rubbish.
  • Do not take unnecessary ballast with you. In our chalets and Alpine huts you get everything you need.
