Access to the Seiser Alm

All restrictions & useful information

The Seiser Alm covers 56 km², making it the largest high-Alpine pasture in Europe. It is a protected landscape area and part of the Schlern–Rosengarten Nature Park. This unique natural environment is exceptionally beautiful and highly worthy of protection. For this reason, access by private vehicle is only permitted under certain conditions. Here you will find all the information at a glance.
Sustainable travel by cable car and bus to the Seiser Alm
Seiser Alm cable car
We recommend taking the Seiser Alm cable car. It is the quickest and most convenient way to reach the Seiser Alm. At the bottom station, cars and coaches can park free of charge on the large outdoor car park, and there are two additional pay-and-display parking garages.
If you prefer not to use the cable car, you can take the Seiser Alm Express (line 10), which provides an alternative route to the Seiser Alm.

Seiser Alm parking reservation

Starting from the summer season 2026, you will need to make an online advance reservation for the Seiser Alm parking lots P1 Spitzbühl and P2 Compatsch. You can make your reservation up to six days before your arrival, allowing you to plan your parking safely and stress-free. Please note that even with a reserved parking space, the Seiser Alm access rules still apply: the road is closed to private vehicles between 09:00 and 17:00. This means you need to arrive before 09:00 to reach the parking lots with your own vehicle. Plan your arrival accordingly and bring your booking confirmation so you can enjoy your stay on the Seiser Alm from the very beginning.

From 29 June, parking on the Seiser Alm must be reserved in advance. Reservations can be made six days before arrival and are therefore possible from 23 June onwards.

For example: if you plan to visit the Seiser Alm on 01.07., you can reserve your parking space starting from 25.06. (starting 6 days in advance) for that day. Reservations for 01.07. can be made from 25.06. until the morning of the same day, subject to availability. It is recommended to make your reservation as early as possible for your desired day, ensuring your parking space is secured and allowing you to plan your trip stress-free.
