The Dolomites were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2009. With this recognition, UNESCO acknowledged the monumental beauty and uniqueness of the Dolomites, as well as their geological and geomorphological significance, as valuable and worth protecting.
A total of nine Dolomite areas – including the Schlern-Rosengarten Nature Park – have since been officially listed among the most beautiful landscapes in the world.
