Your holiday with your dog in South Tyrol

In public spaces – and therefore also when hiking in the mountains – dogs must always be kept on a lead. In public transport and on ropeways, muzzles are mandatory.
Dogs may use all ropeway systems in the Dolomites Region Seiser Alm, some of them subject to a fee. You can find the prices here.
Public buses and the Seiser Alm Express (line 10) require tickets for dogs, while the shuttle buses to the Seiser Alm Aerial Cableway and the Almbus (line 11) do not. Guide dogs and dogs travelling in a transport box measuring 70 × 30 × 50 cm do not require a ticket.

Dogs are not allowed on children’s playgrounds, school grounds, cemeteries and similar areas. These zones are clearly marked with prohibition signs. Please also ensure that your dog does not enter private property or relieve itself there.
Throughout the Dolomites region Seiser Alm, you’ll find numerous dog-waste stations with free waste bags. All locations are listed at the end of this page.
Carrying waste bags is mandatory, and dog waste must be removed immediately and disposed of in the bin provided at the dog-waste station.
Please note: Dog-waste bins are not general waste containers.

When you and your dog encounter grazing animals, particular caution is required. Avoid sudden movements and keep your dog close to you, on the side furthest away from the animals, passing calmly and at a safe distance. Observe the animals; if they approach aggressively, release your dog so it can move to safety. This distracts the animals, allowing you to leave the danger zone calmly yet swiftly.

In winter, the same behaviour rules apply as in summer. Since many winter walking paths run close to cross-country ski trails, please note that both walkers and dogs are strictly prohibited from entering the trails. Footprints damage the surface and pose a safety risk for skiers. Thank you for your understanding!
