South Tyrol, 1961. The northern Italian region is shaken by a series of separatist bomb attacks.

While young farmer’s son Paul wants to escape the lack of prospects in his village and study painting, his older brother Anton fights relentlessly for the protection of the German-speaking minority - using violence if necessary. After Anton is exposed as one of the bombers, he flees, leaving the farm and his family behind. Reluctantly, Paul postpones his own plans to support Anton’s wife Anna and their young son.

As the situation escalates and the Italian police crack down harshly, Anna increasingly begins to stand up against the patriarchal structures of her environment. Paul, meanwhile, must make a choice - between loyalty to his family and personal fulfilment.

In his feature film debut, director Michael Kofler vividly and compellingly explores the events surrounding the "Night of Fire" in South Tyrol.

Thomas Prenn (HOCHWALD) and Laurence Rupp (VENI VIDI VICI) deliver convincing performances as two very different brothers, alongside Aenne Schwarz (LEIBNIZ - CHRONICLE OF A MISSING PAINTING) as a modern-day trailblazer.
