Völs becomes a meeting place for Alpine viticulture

At the first Alpine Wine Summit, taking place on 25 October 2026, ten family-run wineries from two alpine wine regions come together at Prösels Castle: six wineries from Völs at the foot of the Schlern and four guest wineries from the Bündner Herrschaft. Together, they showcase how origin, altitude, soils and climate shape alpine wine, as well as the shared challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

At the heart of the Summit are wine, origin and exchange: South Tyrol and Graubünden meet in the glass, at the table and in conversation. The Summit combines tasting and expertise with regional culinary culture, while also looking towards the next generation and the future of alpine winegrowing.

Official opening of the Alpine Wine Summit at Prösels Castle and introduction to the guiding theme “Alpine Wine – Origin as the Future”.

11:30 am | Meet the Winemakers

“Ten Wineries, Ten Stories”: each winemaking family gives a brief introduction.

12:00 pm | Blind Tasting x Free University of Bozen | Masterclass

Blind tasting of ten wines with scientific guidance and a joint evaluation.

Taking place in parallel, masterclasses dedicated to alpine Pinot Noir, featuring selected wines from Völs and the Bündner Herrschaft.

1:30 pm | Völser Kuchlkastl

A culinary programme featuring local restaurants from Völs, regional dishes, wine pairings and the participating winemakers.

Next Generation Panel

“The Next Generation in Alpine Winegrowing” – a discussion on succession within family-run wineries, climate and high-altitude vineyards, sustainable winegrowing, tourism and the value of manual work.

4:00 pm | Grand Tasting

Open tasting featuring all ten wineries and a cheese buffet. An opportunity for personal exchange between winemakers, guests, gastronomy, the wine trade and the press.

5:00 pm | Prösels Declaration

Presentation of the shared findings and goals, followed by an outlook on the future development of the Alpine Wine Summit.
